Thanks Kari. I'll look into that. I think the 'No Update Notices' setting was
disclosed on the list previously, but I'll do a search for that too. I still
want to look around to find out if there remain any surviving, generally
compatible forks or alternates, besides this one. (At one time there were a
few.) Some time ago I was a user of SeaMonkey. Word on that has been mixed,
for awhile now.

This extended support release does not follow the speedy cycle of

behind. The portable version 47 was not available, as of this
morning. It wasn't entirely clear to me from this article whether
crossing the latest Rubicon occurs at ver. 47 or 48. But I've gotten
really tired of this game, and the browser is plenty good enough and
secure enough for me just as it is, with all the functionality that I
like, for at least the near term. The changes look like deal breakers
-- again -- as I happen to rely upon several of these extensions.
Last time, it was still possible to finesse the things that they
broke. But there are only so many hoops I'm willing to jump through
for this. Time to find that "Cancel the Nag" setting, in
'About:Config'. Beyond that, it will quite possibly again be time to
research what alternate Mozilla forks -- such as Pale Moon -- may
still be maintained.
