Lisa's suggestion appeals to me. If you are converting to Windows Word, why not use the facilities it has. If your files do not have upper ASCII characters (like ä,ö,à etc.), chances are the conversion is straightforward. Import the xy files as TXT or MS-DOS TXT to be on the safe side. Strip XY formatting codes using find-and-replace after you have applied manual formatting in Word. This works if there is just a few of these codes. Or if the documents are just for casual reference, you can leave them as is. On the other hand, if you want perfect results and there is a lot of formatting, you should use filters and some newer version of Xy program family that can handle conversions right out of the box. Signature was the first with this capability.
