Cindy,
I’ve looped in our TPD community officer, Erin Peters and liaison Lt Belinda
Morales. I hope with their help, we might see a little more supervision/patrol
at the splash pad in Catalina Park, especially around opening and closing and
after hours.
I will figure out who at Parks and Rec is responsible for making sure the
splash pad and bathrooms are being locked at night and opened in the morning.
We now have a sign posted about the park being closed at dark and not open
until sunrise. The splash pad has more limited hours. TPD can enforce these
hours as well, to help reduce misuse.
I’m sorry your daughter and grandson were scared off this morning.

My daughter and my 3 1/2 year old son went to the park this morning and left
right away after they saw someone showering in the splash pad.
She didn’t want me to report it, but after all, they should obey the rules,
right? Based on the trash I’ve been seeing in the morning ( notably
cardboard boxes) I think we need to up enforcement. Thoughts?
Cindy.
