Just an addendum.   The information about the Great Wisconsin Birding Trails at 
the link mentioned by Jan below is also available in hard copy format as well.  
We don't go anywhere in WI without them.  I make notes about each site right in 
booklet for future reference. 

Here's  how to obtain hard copies (copied from the website):

Region Viewing Guides 
These guides are PDF files of brochures created by the 
Wisconsin Department of Tourism (John P. Cronin).    The PDF files are 
very large and may be slow to view unless you have a fast internet 
connection. Hard copies of these guides can be ordered online at Travel 
Wisconsin, by phone (800/432-TRIP), or at Wisconsin Travel Information Centers.
