To find local birding hotspots, you might want to check out eBird. There
are a few different ways to search the data but here's what I usually end
up doing...
To find where and what birds are being seen in your area go to
http://ebird.org/content/wi, click on View and Explore Data then Bar Charts
and click on on your county of interest. I find it most useful to click on
the Map button to the right of the species name.

If you have an ebird account you can set up eBird Alerts for your county.
So anytime someone observes a species you haven't seen yet in your county
you will get an email (hourly or daily). To do this, go to
http://ebird.org/ebird/wi/alerts, click on My eBird, then Manage My Alerts
and scroll down to Needs Alerts.
