One of my aunts had a computer that did just that. By that time, though, I wasn't able to salvage much of the system, and I just pulled the drive from the system. I had Symantec scan the drive from another system... but I aborted the scan after it found over 500 copies of the Bagle (Beagle?) worm on the system - I don't know if that was the virus, or another one causing that problem, but I decided that it wasn't worth it to try to repair, so I reformatted and started from scratch. I *was* able to salvage most of her documents, though. Drew >>> GReese@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 05/10/04 03:10PM >>> My brother called me a little while ago. His home computer was acting up so he ran ad-aware and scanned for a virus etc. Ad-Aware cleaned a bunch of junk off of there and so did the antivirus. He is running XP Pro. Now, every time he selects an item in the start menu or double clicks an icon, the background goes away, the icons disappear, it hangs up, then they all come back but the program never runs. To me, that says that explorer.exe is crashing. But I am not sure why. Can anyone think of a virus that could cause that behavior. It sounds virus like to me.
