[windows2000] Re: What could be slowing down our Internet access

It may help, but is probably not the core of the problem -- I would
follow the peer advice here and check the routers, etc.

If you are interested in getting an idea of what compression will do for
any Web app over HTTP and HTTPS, the first two tools on this page will
give you an idea of:

- compression savings in files size and transfer speed improvement
- bandwidth savings calculation based on transfer or bandwidth billing
models

The analysis tools are free at
http://www.port80software.com/support/p80tools.

For example, google.com saves 64% in file size by using HTTP compression
and is 2.7 times faster for it
(http://www.port80software.com/support/tools/compresscheck?url=http://ww
w.google.com).

Best,
Chris @ Port80

Chris,

We do use one web application over HTTPS, but it isn't used often.
However, that sounds like it would be worth looking into.
