Sure. First run a backup. Detach the database with the detach command. Rename the files without the hyphen. Reattach the database with the attach command. Run another backup, making sure it is a full backup. Do a DBCC_Shrinkdatabase command on the database. Help for all of the above is in SQL Book Online, or just shout... Now the issue is that we want to shink the .ldf file cos of disk space, but we are having a problem with the naming convention. SQL does not like - in names. Is there a way we can get around this?
