[windows2000] Messenger Service

I had a user this morning asking me about annoying pop-ups from the
messenger service trying to sell him things.
I disabled the messenger service on his computer and all was well.
Only one problem, this user is on the inside of my firewall. My
firewall is blocking the correct stuff so that leads me to believe that
some bonehead user has gone and done something stupid. Any ideas on how
to find out?
