Hi Joshua

I think .m4a sounds very good.  I think that 128 bit files sound at 
least as good as Mp3 at the same bit rate so, if you're happy with 128 
bit Mp3, you shouldn't have to go for bigger file sizes in .m4a, 
although you can always experiment of course, and you might not agree 
with me about sound quality, which is always a subjective business..  I 
usually rip in M4A or Mp4 at 160 bit, and I've been happy with the 
results so far, although I haven't done any orchestral or chamber music, 
where A/B comparison of the low level content, and the stereo image 
becomes more critical.
