I try to be short.
My impression is that this new rules are just the last battle of the
Theo's personal "war" against IHPVA (Theo did his best to confirm this
doubt in a personal mail where he said, quote: -The only thing we could
do to unify [with IHPVA] would be to dissolve the WHPVA. Maybe this
would indeed be best.)
I do not find these rules useful to find better places where to run a
such speed record, and *to run it in safety*. In past years I try to
find places around the Po river delta where to run a record event, but
to run over 100km/h with, most of the time, canal both side scares me a
lot and I suppose will be hard to have a permit to run such event... (in
Italy the organizer of a race is penally responsible for what might
happen, and no, I will not personally take that sort of responsibility)
than anyway, new Theo's rules will make even harder to find a place.
Theo affirm that BM little slope transform our HPV in hybrid powered
vehicles, but in my mind this is risible, the road is the same for
everyone (and we can easily calculate the equivalent speeds reached with
a gradient 0%), for me is much more hybrid, the fact that faster team
are running on Camera bike, cameras and monitors that are running out
from the rider power, transforming bikes in hybrid (our rules are
already forbidding this (3.1.1), but nobody seems to care of it) , and
this is Yes a _formal propose to ban all the camera bike that use power
for the vision system that do not come from the rider power _ (3.1.2
...one leg stroke is the maximum allowed energy storage...) If we care
about scientific and _sportive_ issue we must do that! (this can also
improve study of optical vision system or in new extremely low energy
eaten devices coupled to hyper efficient dynamo generator...) all the
environment issue are foolishness, if tomorrow in Japan or better in
Australia someone decide to built a 15 km "laser flat" ribbon perfectly
asphalted in the middle of nothing just to set records, all the racer of
around the world will be forced to go there if they hope to do something
good. Anyway someone has to move...
More than that if there is a little slope that push _all the bike_, we
have the possibility to better improve aerodynamics and rolling
resistance...
It's like setting a limit to the ground salinity to exclude Bonneville
from the list of locations for records, just because Bonneville is where
it is and there is not another around the world ...and NO, even though
there seem to be more and more supporters of the theory now, the earth
is not flat!
The only point for that rules is to disqualify BM for 200m record
attempt, but is just a dream to think that passionate people and teams
from all the world, stops to go racing there due to "our" new rules, and
Yesss, we can place all the old records in a _Best Human Effort_ part of
our database. :-P
Now, probably someone of you know that on the other side of the ocean
the idea of a 10 miles ribbon or a mega oval or both is much more than
an hypothesis (the oval will be at 0% and the ribbon possibly the same,
certainly with a much lower tolerance), and so, if we want to make some
rules on that matter we must have to speak with IHPVA and to make new
shared rules for the slope, they have the Nevada state on the back and
also the support of local authorities, they will go ahead. If the WHPVA
board does not even want to try a dialogue with IHPVA, I think the time
has come for a nice renewal.
We must find a way to unite people, not to divide it; for this and
others reason I vote *NO* for Propulsione Umana
