Morry/Herve,
Good questions to ask and some good points.

Early in the industry, a lot of opportunities presented themselves simply
through timing and circumstances. If you had a pulse, some experience, you
got a job because this "interactive" thing was all new and companies were
clueless and hiring.

Nowadays, with jobs scarce most opportunities are obtained through
networking.

I often hear about gigs from friends, former colleagues and recruiters. They
ask me if I know someone who has such and such experience, etc. Even if I
don't know someone, I'll ask around and introduce people if there's even a
chance for a fit. It's worked in several cases and I can think of at least 3
cases where people I referred got work.

Having substantial pharma experience is a huge plus despite the larger
issues with the economy and shakeups in the pharma industry. I think if you
work hard at building a network and building your online brand as Herve
suggests, you'll definitely have more opportunities to look at.

I wouldn't worry too much about not having the interactive experience -
project management transfers well between disciplines. If you can deliver
projects on time and on budget in one industry, you can do it in another.
The rest you can learn on the job.
