Hi Everyone,
This thread is really interesting. I have a question I would like to add. For
those of us with little experience (I finished grad school in interactive media
last year before that I was teaching English in Japan) how do we find entry
level positions? Or positions that will give us good experience. I have had
some freelance work since finishing school but it seems like employers really
want to see more experience. I am not opposed to doing an internship but would
prefer it be paid because I am supporting myself. Any insight into this would
be great!
Thanks,
  Liz Gallo

Hey Clarissa,
I've been doing this for a long time and I'm not PMP Certified nor have I
ever hired someone that is. That being said, there's certainly no
disadvantage.

If you're planning to stay within the digital space you can probably get
buy, have a stellar career and move up the ladder, so to speak without ever
becoming certified.

Still, and this may contradict everything I've said previously, I recommend
it. Especially given this economy. The more tools you have in your tool
shed, the better off you'll be. Ultimately it'll provide you more options
should you want to transition to say architecture, construction, etc.

Best,
Nathan
