forgot to mention that too.
But the correct syntax is

<!--[if lt IE 7]>

       IE specific code goes here

<![endif]-->

All other browsers ignore this as its a microsoft markup. it can also be
used for very specific browsers ex. [if IE 6] , [if IE 5.5], etc.
