Hi Eleanor,
Yes, you can download the full studio.exe file from DvdVideoSoft which
contains a utility called free youtube download which will download video
as mp4 files which will run in windows media player. The link for
DVDVideoSoft is:
http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/free-dvd-video-software-download.htm
Go down this page to the link for the free studio which contains a load of
converters. I was able to use the free audio converter to converter m4a
(apple format) to mp3, for example.
Instructions:
1. Open youtube and find your choice of item using the search option.
2. While this item is running press alt +d to bring Jaws to the address
line.
Press ctrl +c to copy this to clipboard.
3. Press windows key and open DVDVideoSoft under Programs. Right arrow into
Programs in here. Right arrow into a list of converters in here. Choose Free
youtube download in here.
4. When this program opens you will be able to tab to various buttons. Tab
to Paste. Press space here and the address in the clipboard will
automatically go into the file edit box.
5. Tab around and you will find a edit box where you can choose where to put
the converted file.
In another box you can specify the format of the converted file.
6. Now tab to the convert button. Press space here and the file will
download and be put into your choice of folder selected in that appropriate
tab box.
It is not necessary to have youtube open for this as the DvdVideoSoft
program will go on the internet itself and download the item.
Job done.
Have fun.
Aedan.
