Hi Susan

Glad you got it sorted but was going to suggest that you could get album
information on one of the shopping sites like Amazom where they give
track
listings for most albums.

I have just been on Wickapidia myself looking for a list for a copied CD
and had no bother finding the list of tracks but if it’s a compilation
it
might be a bit harder to find the track info.

Best to you for 2014.

Tony

Hello Gary,

It's my wish just as it's yours that iTunes and other media players
will one day be able to label every CD we import - no matter when it
was released or where we are located, but till then, it's important to
bear in mind that these things are just what they are - mere
technology which are imperfect.

Even in markets like Nigeria, the situation could even be worse
because iTunes doesn't currently label tracks imported with other
players other than it.

Susan, you'll truly need sighted assistance, but if that's what you'll
need to get your imported CD properly tagged, why not just bear the
pain now?

All the best.

Great description, but Susan will need sighted assistance reading the
names
off the album, and I have to say it is very time consuming. I can't
understand why iTunes don't have details of all songs, albums and
complications on their data base. If iTunes are that great they
should
have
this info and all the artwork for the covers of songs and albums.
Good
luck
Susan.

Hello Susan,

It's been quite sometime since I last imported/ripped CDs to my
laptop. However, I'm sure you're not doing anything wrong.

My experience - from ripping/importing CDs (different names for the
same task) with Windows Media Player or iTunes - is that the media
players look up the titles of the CDs from online databases and then
match what you've imported with what they find. Sometimes, they get
the matches wrong; at other times, they don't find any match for the
imported CD. In the latter case, I will suggest you label the
imported
tracks yourself.

I can't remember how you label the tracks through Windows Media
Player, but with iTunes:
1. You press CTRL+I to bring up a multitab dialog box that allows
you to edit the tags of the currently playing track. Such tags
include
artiste, title, album, genre, etc.
2. When the dialog box comes up, use your left and right arrow keys
to navigate through the different tabs.
3. The tab you'll need to label the tracks is the Info tab - which
is the second in the order if you are moving from the extreme right
with your left arrow key.
NOTES: Other tabs in the dialog box are summary, video, sorting,
options, lyrics and artwork tabs. You may look through these other
tabs later just to know what they are about. Who know, you may find
something interesting in them too!
Also, multi-tab dialog boxes in iTunes work a bit differently from
other such dialog boxes in JAWS and other applications. While you
move
through the various tabs in other applications with the combination
of
CTRL+tab, with iTunes, it's the left and right arrow keys that take
you from one page to the next.
4. Move through the info tab with the tab key on Windows. The
available options you can edit in the info tab include:
* Name (track title)
* Artiste
* Year (of release I believe!)
* Album artiste
* Track Number (serial number in the list as contained on the album
or
collection)
* Of (total number of tracks on album)
* Album (title)
* Disk number (guess this should apply in cases where an album is a
multi-box set of more than one disk)
* Of (total number of disks in the collection)
* Grouping (I don't know what this is!)
* BPM (Don't know this one too)
* Composer
* Comments
* Genre
* Part of a compilation (unchecked by default but can be checked if
the track is part of a compilation)
* Ok button
* Cancel button
* Previous button (moves you to the previous track if any so you can
name
it)
* Next button (moves you to the next track if any so you can name it
too).

Susan, I personally prefer to work with tags of audio files in
iTunes
because it gives more room for editing. However, if you are
uncomfortable with iTunes, you can also try out Winamp. In winamp,
you
edit the tags of a playing track by pressing Alt+3. That combination
brings you a dialog box where you can name the playing track or edit
it.

In addition, the fields you find in iTunes may also depend on the
version of the player you have installed.

Hope you find this helpful.

All the best!
