Hi,

As far as it goes, the message sent by Gary containing the Microsoft Support article has a solution to do what Sean wants. (Comma separated values.) I b elieve that separate name columns is the best way to go here alright.

Hi Sean,

Ah ok. So are you saying that the first name and second name are together in a single cell?
If so, I don't believe there is any way to do what you want. You would need to have separate columns for first name and second name, and then sort by second name.

I stand to be corrected of course, but that would be my experience.

Many thanks for your reply.

Tried A to Z & Z to A, it rearranged the names ok, but by the first name.

I'm trying to do it using second (sir) names.

Kind regards.

Hi Sean,

I don't know about the table in Word, sorry.
But in Excel, select the whole table, Alt+A should do that. Then press Alt, A, S, S to open the sort dialogue box. In the box, select the column you want to sort by, and to sort A-Z.

Not sure why your file would be gone, what type of email account is it, and what client are you using?

Ahoy All

I have three tasks, to which I need your knowledge & expertise to
resolve please!

The first two or of a similar nature, in that:-
1    I have a table in Word in which the first column consists of a list
of names & the remaining columns with the corresponding info to each person.
2    How do I put the list of names into alphabetical order, i.e. Burke
Tom, O’Mahony John, Watson Alan etc. Presently they are showing by
first name in alphabetical order.

3  I have the same list of names on a worksheet in Excel and would
like to do the same with their relevant info accompanying them.

I know that some time back, the late great number 1 sent me emails
with the info for these tasks. On numerous occasions, I meant to put
them into a file, which obviously didn’t happen. However, I went
searching my inbox for them and there they were, gone!
Have they gone, gone, or moved somewhere else?

Any assistance on the above mentioned would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards.

Yours Aye
Seán
