I don't know about the table in Word, sorry.
But in Excel, select the whole table, Alt+A should do that. Then press Alt, A,
S, S to open the sort dialogue box. In the box, select the column you want to
sort by, and to sort A-Z.
Not sure why your file would be gone, what type of email account is it, and
what client are you using?

Any assistance on the above mentioned would be gratefully appreciated.
