Subject: [vip_students] New here

Hi,
I'm Tina from Germany and I'm an ERASMUS student at NUI Galway. I study
English and this is my second semester here. It took me quite a while to
find Irish mailing lists for visually impaired people in Ireland.
Strangely, all I found are more or less about technology only. I have a
really old key phone and usually no problems with my computer.
But I'm more interested in getting to know other students and free time
activities such as cultural events and sports.
When I asked in another list, I was told that there are no national
activities for blind people e.g. weekend trips, creative workshops or
community gatherings of some kind.
We have the Galway visually impaired activity club. We do cycles every
second Sunday.

I might go to the audio described play The risen People on the 25th in the
Abbey Theatre. Is somebody here planning to go too? They also offer a guided
tour through the theatre.
Sorry. I know that it's off topic.

All the best
Tina

Hey Irene

oh how I remember the dreaded calling people in the name of tapping or using
siri to call someone only to be told he was calling someone totally
different.
what I discovered, panic sets in and two fingers, a fist or bad language
can't silence the ringing now my tip is hit the button to lock your screen
at the top of the phone and this disconnects the call!

hope that works for you

Yours
Jackie

        Hi,

this is such a simple question I am embarrassed to ask! I have at
last purchased an iphone and can do the odd thing. However, when I am
playing with it I have sometimes dialled a number by mistake. I then panic
and just can't cancel the call. What is the easiest way to end a call
please?

I got a three vol manual from the R.N.I.B. so will eventually start
reading it and perhaps pick up the odd thing.

        Cheers,

        Irene.
