Hi Frank,

Why you can't uninstall is because Avast has a "self-healing mechanism"
which needs to be stopped prior to uninstalling. Here's how:

1. Go to the desktop and press enter on the Avast icon.

2.Wait for it to open up this could take up to about 20 to 30 seconds.

3. Tab over to "change settings" and press the spacebar.

4. Now use the "control + tab keys" to jump to the trouble-shooting page in
here.

5. Next tab key over to the "Avast self-protection module" checkbox and
press the spacebar to uncheck it.

6. Tab to the ok button and press spacebar.

Note: When you hit spacebar on the ok button jaws may seem to go quiet for a
while so be patient at this point.

7. Close the Avast window.

8. Go into start menu, settings, control panel.

9. Go into "Add/remove" and when the list comes up, arrow down to "Avast".

10. Tab over to change/remove and press the spacebar. Wait a while and then
choose from the choices of "uninstall and remove" the remove option then tab
over to next and hit with the spacebar.

Avast should now uninstall itself at this point.

Paul.
