Hi Mairead,

If you have identified specific books that you will need for your
course, you could try to contact the publishers directly and ask them
if they could provide you a copy in an alternative format.  Not all
publishers provide this facility, however some do.  That is once you
sign a non-disclosure agreement stating that the text is for your own
personal use and that you will not give copies to others etc.

Note, they may request that you purchase a printed copy before
providing text in an other format.
