Hi. Ok. Being both an IOS and kindle user I can probably answer all your
questions. Also, being in a similar position myself not so many months ago
I feel your pain.
Well, not really actually. I wanted a separate device purely for media
consumption. You know it is just nice to be able to put your phone down
sometimes and not be disrupted. Not to mention, if you have notifications
on your phone that can also cause volume issues when they come in. So, I
went for a fire tablet.
Firstly, AS I did purely want the device for media consumption, I could not
justify paying ridiculous amounts of money for an iPad. This was probably
the biggest factor in my buying decision. Secondly, buying audible and
kindle books is easier on the fire. You cannot purchase this content on
your IOS without first logging into amazon via safari and then locating the
book. While you do have to tackle the audible and kindle store using a web
browser, the whole process for me is much less cumbersome as you siply tap
on the link and you are taken straight to the web store and to the page
where your book can be bought. I can't comment about Alexa on the fire
tablets as at this moment, the UK customers do not have access to it though
they will on june 7 if you want to go and buy a new fire tablet. Failing
that, we have to wait until they roll out the new OS for the fire tablet
which is apparently coming in June.
If you plan on using the fire tablet for email, then I'd recommend the iPad.
I find the email client pretty infuriating and if I use it at all, it's
simply to sort and filter, deleting any mail I'm not interested in reading.

Hello all, a decision before me is whether to purchase an ios tablet like
the I pad mini or I pad or an amazon fire tablet. I especially wonder if
buying audible or kindle books is easier on the amazon fire tablet than
than an ios device, or is it about the same? Also, I want the tablet of some
kind to manage an echo, since my computer is older and still works but has
security issues since it is XP. I don't yet have a smart phone. My only
other devices are vr streams, which do not really figure in here. A lot to
