I don't think you'll ever find Braille or bluetooth support in a device like the Kindle.

The Kindle 3/keyboard does not have host USB support, so it will not support an external keyboard for touch typing or support a USB driven braille display. And since it does not have Bluetooth, that's not an option either for external keyboard or braille display use. Yes they could update the firmware to make it more verbally accessible, but as I've said before, since the Kindle 3/keyboard is an older product, that's not likely to happen. The bottom line is the Kindle 3/keyboard is a dead-end product for the blind community. As far as the Kindle Fire goes, you can expect a new piece of hardware every year, which means the firmware updates will disappear pretty quickly so It's not a viable long-term option either. We see updates over a long period of time on blindness products because they're so expensive and the companies know they can't get us to go out replace them every year like people do on consumer Electronic products, so you can't look at the companies that sell consumer-electronics in the same way as you would those companies that sell products specifically to the blind community.
