Yes.
If you edit /usr/share/alsa/pcm/dmix.conf and change the number of periods it
uses. The default here is 16. Try 4 instead.

I tried it, but the result is terribile! The emulation is tremendously
slow, about 25% than normal speed, and in console the following message
is printed thousands times:
