Walter,

Another other option would be to make the case thicker by adding spacers inside
and adding some rubber or plastic strips around the edges to fill the gap. Hey,
rubber would make the unit more "drop-able" ;-)

Of course, if you were Ben Heckendorn you'd just remove the entire guts and
build a new casing out of a block of solid plastic ;-)

Seriously, I've picked up several LCD units to play with, with the intent of
using them with DTV or making a C64 laptop etc and it always comes down to...
how do I do the case?

Steve

Thanks for the pics…

I guess a small piggy back box screwed to the back of the monitor may not be so
bad,
Something low profile, with a slot for sd card, and a small ps/2 and joystick
port…

Walter,

Sadly, no. Neither the DTV-V1 or Hummer will fit inside the case.

Here is the input board:

Here is the unit with the back off:

Overall though, the unit looks fairly hackable. It's definately worth the $49!

I picked up the last unit at Markham East FS this morning. Luckily it was the
plastic case version. Hooked it up and it seems okay, but a little tweaking is
needed for a nice display. My new-style 64C seemed to display better than one
of the older model 64s. I'm tearing the LCD panel apart now to see how hackable
it will be. Note, for those trying to disassemble it, there is one hidden screw
underneath the audio out label... pictures later if anyone is interested.

I picked up one of each, but opened the boxed one first,
Thinking if there were any issues it would be easiest to return…

I had the 2nd unit (plasic packaging) I kinda purchased it just in case?
But did not open it until this afternoon, I was wondering if they were
All like that,    but the plastic packaging had the component, svideo, and the
composite,

So I went to the store and explained, and exchanged the boxed one with a
plastic package one…

Jone I will use with a Hummer and or DTV2 Pal if I can get my hands on one,
and one I may
Actually use with my xbox360…

Pretty good deal at 49.00  J

The thing that clamps onto the 360 also works as a stand…

I will exchange mine tomorrow.  I guess it was a 50/50 chance when picking it
up.  I saw them both but couldnt tell any difference other than the box.

Well, I discovered that the ones in the plastic case have the composite,
component, and svideo input…
J  the boxed one does not…

So I went and exchanged my boxed version with the plastic case version…
And now I have the component, svideo, and composite inputs…

Great pics….
