Bledsoe Creek State Park Gallatin-Sumner County, TN Snow Bunting Peninsula Old Hickory-Davidson County, TN August 27, 2011 Ten birders joined today's Field Trip sponsored by the Nashville Chapter of TOS at Bledsoe Creek State Park and subsequently at Snow Bunting Peninsula. The weather cooperated as we birded under blue skies, sunshine and a fine breeze. Highlights included a Great Egret seen near the shore as we began. Two Prothonotary Warblers flitted in the trees at lakeside and later a Yellow-throated Warbler was spotted overhead. A great number of Rough-winged Swallows sat along the power lines that crossed high above the water. We heard an Osprey in the distance and later were rewarded with good views of two, one carrying a fish. Later at Snow Bunting Peninsula we observed two Forster's Terns as they flew back and forth from buoy to buoy.
