Out of hiding. Monday afternoon at 4:20 we observed the Fulvous Whistling-Duck in the same location at the central ponds at the Ensley pits. It was with Blue-winged Teal and the few Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks that had not yet moved across the road to the TVA ash ponds. As reported earlier by others, shorebird count was dramatically down. However, there was still some good variety with Semipalmated Plover, Baird's Sandpiper and Western Sandpipers. There was no shortage of Black-necked Stilts, with 109 being counted. Mac and Susan McWhirter Shelby County
