5 birders from Nashville searched for the Fulvous
Whistling-Duck near Adams, TN around noon. It took
some scoping, but the bird was finally located
sleeping on the north shore of the pond, partially
hidden by weeds. It briefly woke up/stood up when the
Canada Geese flew in nearby.

The pond is located 8.3 miles north of I-24 on State
Route 256. Heading north from I-24, there is one stop
sign at 2.5 miles, and a second stop sign at 7.4
miles. TN 256 turns left at the second stop sign.
The barn is 9/10 mile on the right side beyond the
second stop sign. There are several red barns along
the road, this is the only barn with a pond. Again,
please do not cross the fence.

This is the second record of Fulvous Whistling-Duck in
the Nashville Area, the other being in Sumner County
in May 1976.

Also seen/heard were Dickcissels across the road in
corn stubble, Great Crested Flycatchers, and Eastern
Kingbird.
