for us it was usb scanners and fiber optic nics. My preference is a linux based
one though.

have to do to Windows, for example, the Xen Desktop, Desktop Receiver
client, for advanced USB support it has to be the Windows client, etc.......
What I don't understand is why they can't create some kind of hardened
Embedded windows that can't be hacked or wormed or virus. On one of our big
projects we turned on the first Windows Embedded TC's and within minutes
they were infected!!!

Caution - unsolicited 2 cents follows...
Never regretted going to Linux based thins here. They boot up in
nothing flat, require no real patches (other than ICA client), perform
better with less expensive hardware. You couldn't pay me to run
Windows on a thin. Defeats the whole purpose by having something that
needs constant care and feeding. Might as well run a PC with XP/Vista
on it at that point IMO.
