Yeah, that's what I did. I figured out my problem - I had used the
wrong IP address for the FTP server. Once I fixed that it worked like
a charm.

Following is the procedure for setting up DHCP Tag 137 on W2K =3D =
server:=3D3D20
1) Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, DHCP
2) Select your W2K server icon under the Tree tab
3) Select the Action menu item
4) Select Set Predefined Options...
5) Click the Add button
6) In the Name field enter a name(i.e. Neoware)
7) Data Type should be set to String
8) Code should be 137
9) In the Description field enter a description(i.e. ezUpdate)
10) Click OK
11) Under Value enter the String(i.e. FTP location(URL) of configuration =
=3D3D and/or software update files) Note: This is a Global setting! =
If you =3D3D have multiple scopes defined you would not enter the String =
here...you =3D3D would enter the String at the Scope level.
That's it. As for troubleshooting, as long as you can browse =3D3D =
anonymously to the FTP site, and open any of the three files =3D3D =
(CONNECTIONS.RGY, PROPERTIES.RGY and a text file I cannot remember the =
=3D =3D3D name of), your client should get the update.

I've read the documentation about the ezUpdate process. The part that I =
=3D3D don't understand is the DHCP tag. I have a Win2K DHCP server, but =
I =3D =3D3D don't have option 137 to assign in my scope. I've tried =
right-clicking =3D =3D3D the server, choosing 'Set Predefined Options', =
and adding a string =3D3D option with 137 as the code. I then assigned =
my FTP server's ezRemote =3D =3D3D folder to the option. However, I =
don't get any update on my clients. Is =3D3D this how you get DHCP tag =
137? Also, when it doesn't work, how do =3D you =3D3D troubleshoot it?

the ezUpdate makes mass upgrades a breeze. All you do is set a DHCP tag =
=3D3D =3D3D3D3D pointing to a share and put the files you want upgraded =
in =3D the =3D3D3D =3D3D share. =3D3D3D3D When the units boot they check =
and load from =3D the share if =3D3D newer. =3D3D3D You =3D3D3D3D =
should be able to set it up with =3D your config file =3D3D so that a =
new =3D3D3D unit, =3D3D3D3D when booted, will =3D update itself and load =
=3D3D the config file. Then you can =3D3D3D3D drop ship =3D units =
straight to your =3D3D sites and they will be running right =3D3D3D3D =
out of =3D the box without any =3D3D fuss from you.

no, actually it seems to be pretty handy. esp. the shadowing part. that =
=3D3D =3D3D3D3D has helped us out a great deal as many of our users are =
at remote =3D3D locations. =3D3D3D3D we have not as of yet done a "mass =
=3D upgrade" of the =3D3D3D =3D3D neoware O.S., but we =3D3D3D3D have =
done individual machines =3D that have =3D3D needed to be upgraded.

we have about 200 of them from the 3000 series to the new 4000 series =

newer ones have a =3D more =3D3D more "windows =3D3D3D3D like" feel in =
the setup. their support has =3D been =3D3D pretty =3D3D3D good, =

support for =3D3D3D software. i think you have 1 year from purchase, =3D =
then =3D3D you have to buy extended support. we have =3D3D3D3D =
blackberries =3D syncing =3D3D through them, but no other devices =
attached other than modems. =3D3D3D3D =3D we =3D3D use them as dial ups =
for home users and some remote offices. seem to =3D =3D3D =3D3D3D3D work =
well there also.
