Oh, THAT host file, I thought maybe it was a Citrix "host" file, hence my confusion. Thanks for straightening that out for me! The OS checks this file (winnt\system32\drivers\etc\host) for any static dns entries before it moves on to querying the DNS server. So if you put in an entry for a 'lost' server it won't ask the DNS server. I am not sure what you are talking about when you refer to the Hosts file? Let it sit till the hourglass go away, (go get coffee, this could take a bit). Once it times out (no more hour glass) then try the right click and remove. If that doesn't work add the Server to the Hosts file, and repeat 1st step. I need to=20 remove it from the CMC but am having issues. I did the following: * Removed metaframe from server via Add/Remove programs * Removed server from NT4 domain and added to a workgroup. Server Manager=20 still had this listed in the domain (even after 2 days) so manually removed=20 it. Its now not listed in the domain. * The CMC still has the server listed. If I manually try to remove it, I=20 get the following error: "The server is still reachable, and cannot be removed. it should be removed=20 by uninstall program. Error Code:801c000f" The server is powered off so I don't know how it is reachable.. How can I remove this server from the CMC (the datastore is Access based)..
