Very True! I have on many occassions called MS when I reqired a specific
hotfix, and as long as I was able to provide the relative Q# to the
operator, I was patched through to a support assistant that provided me with
the requested patch right away. I have also used their paid support services
many times, and found them very generous in crediting back the charge if
there was any question that the issue might have been their software. We
have other vendors that we pay hundreds of thousands to for support
contracts, and they don't provide near the quality or speed of support that
MS does. If you know what to ask and how to ask it, MS is great. If you
don't, call a solutions provider, and pay for their services! :)

That is simply not true... Microsoft will not charge to tell they reconize
the problem and it's a defect. In fact the opposite is true. If they
reconize that the problem is a defect/bug with the product, they will NOT
charge you for the incident.

I found a quickly test to see if the logon problem is related to the fixes

mentioned below:
disable printer mapping and see if your users can ... once again ... logon
quickly. Since M$ charges an outrageous amount of $$$ to tell you that they
recognise that they have a problem with their defective product; I decided
to
wait until someone else is courageous enough to beta their hot fixes. I'm
now
getting fairly fast at rolling back to the last "known good" configuration
and/or doing a complete new build.
