This is a 5500.

I am beginning to agree.

The reason to go with the CE, was so we did not have to worry so much about
patching of the XP one, etc.

The goal is to get units on the floor, which require less admin.
Interaction.

Right now, we are converting HP Deskpro 2000 and 400 to DOS machine,
launching published Citrix WI, and having users connect to that to get their
apps. It works, but we are thinking long term solution to get rid of NT
machines, keep costs low, get away from Virus Scan and M$ updates so often
to clients, etc.

I have an HP thin client here running ce.net. It's got to be the most
unfriendly thin client I have ever seen. I think you really need a well
setup Rapport installation (or whatever HP calls their version) to make
these really work well. It is a t5500.

I slimmed mine down by installing ICA 8 from the Citrix website. I then
removed all the surrounding HP garbage like Messenger and IE from the
desktop and start menu and left just the ICA shortcuts I wanted the user to
have on the desktop. The start menu is pretty much empty and the desktop is
pretty clean as a result too. I put the main ica connection I wanted them
to use in the startup folder so it starts once it boots up.

So far so good but I won't be recommending them as a solution for us.
