Chad: Thanks for the clarification. If this hotfix from Microsoft still doesn't do the trick, I will try this. Keith -----Original Message----- From: Schneider, Chad M. Then, edit the userlogon.cmd file to include the line start /c cmstart.exe. -----Original Message----- From: Keith Duckworth [mailto:KDuckworth@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, August 29, 2003 12:56 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Tyfanie: Tyfanie, Thanks for writing back on this. I just have a few questions on what you quoted from Rick: When in the statement: "I removed cmstart.exe from appsetup under hlkm\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentverion\winlogon. And added a line: Start /c cmstart.exe Towards the end of usrlogon.cmd.", does this mean when doing the reg-hack that I replace "cmstart.exe" with "start /c cmstart.exe" within the registry, replacing the original "cmstart.exe"? If not, where does the "start /c cmstart.exe" go? I have been working with some Microsoft engineers, and they had me apply a new hotfix that they gave me. It references to KB818528 "Problems when more than one user accesses the same file through Terminal Services." It's supposed to be the latest and greatest hotfix for this slow down problem. Something to do with same file use by multiple people while in TS. It does an update on the mrxsmb.sys and the rdbss.sys files, and you also do a registry hack. I already posted this to the list & got a great response that now makes that box the fastest one logging in! The fix was given by Rick Mack (Thanks again, Rick). If you want more info do a search for the title "SP4 and slow logins" Had this problem on one customer site and traced it to cmstart taking just about forever. I removed cmstart.exe from appsetup under hlkm\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentverion\winlogon. And added a line: Start /c cmstart.exe Towards the end of usrlogon.cmd. Cmstart still takes ages to complete, but it runs in the background and doesn't stop explorer from initialising reasonably quickly. -----Original Message----- From: Keith Duckworth [mailto:KDuckworth@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, August 28, 2003 7:06 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Citrix slow logins and screen freezes Has anyone experienced slow logins and screen freezes on their Citrix boxes after installing SP4 for Win2k? If so, have they found a solution? I have been working with Microsoft on this problem, but after two weeks, we are still scratching our heads in confusion.
