Well, just at this moment (1 pm) the front and associated squall line are
impacting the upper Texas coast and will soon be doing the same to the SW
Louisiana coast. I posted a couple of photos to the Texbirds Facebook Page
showing this activity at Houston and Lake Charles. Yesterday and last night
NEXRAD has been showing large trans-Gulf migrations arriving at these
NEXRAD stations with birds making it inland to just south of Shreveport and
SW of Texarkana.
The front has turbulent weather mostly north of the coastal zone but a thin
line of mostly light showers stretches SW to Corpus Christi which has been
receiving trans-Gulf migrants but in smaller numbers that the upper Texas
and SW Louisiana sites. New Orleans was showing a pretty good arrival
earlier this morning. The peak activity has been pretty well centered on
the mouth of the Sabine River. Clearing is expected after frontal passaged
with stiff north winds continuing. The NWS is calling for "record low
temperatures" for the next couple of nights.

Needless to say good migrant birding (it has been pretty good all week
actually) is expected from this afternoon through at least tomorrow and
maybe longer.
