Last night showed a great flight up the South Texas coast to the Coastal Bend and then continueing northward through central Texas and far beyond up through the center of the country to the Great Lakes. This was entirely a circum-Gulf route but likely includes some trans-Gulf migrants that had been grounded on the coast following last week's major fall out on the western Gulf coast. Today the winds have shifted/are shifting back into the SE at ~20 its. at Brownsville and Corpus and are shifting from E and ESE at Lake Charles and New Orleans. Arriving trans-Gulf migrants are visible on NEXRAD displays at midday. With a reasonable tail wind most of these will probably head on inland. The next real event would appear to be Wednesday when another front reaches the northern Gulf coast. jca John C.
