For that matter, wintering hummingbird numbers are way down this year, at least 
in the Coastal Bend.   It is a struggle to see two at the same time in my 
backyard, where in previous winters there were constant dogfights all day.   

At the TOS Meeting, Kelly Bryan said that his hummer banding numbers in both 
migration and wintering were extremely low, and there are fewer numbers of 
wintering hummers in the Eastern US this year.

Now we just have to figure out why.....
