Jim,
We, along with many other Audio specialists, have been doing refoams
successfully for many years now.
Any manufacturer of quality speakers, eg, JBL,Polk,Boston Accoustics,
Klipsch etc, just to name a few, will concurr that refoaming, if done
properly, is a viable repair on a driver that only requires the foam
replaced.
The refoaming kits they all make available are your proof of this.
Perhaps you might need to be shown how to do it correctly if youv'e not had
any success with it in the past.
If your statement were to have any merit then that would mean the many
business' that specialise in refoams, along with all the companies that sell
refoam kits and have been doing so for many years are all wrong and your the
only one in America thats right..........???

REFOAM? Speakers are RECONED, which includes the cone, vc, foam
and spider. Essentially, they rip everything out down to the frame and
replace
all the moving parts.
It would be nearly impossible to replace the foam only and get correct
balance or
alignment which is critical. Ever replace a horn driver "pot" diaphram?
It's not
as complex as a speaker, but still takes a bit to get it right.
You will have problems if someone just "refoams" them. Don't do it!!
