The deadline for HDTV was pushed back from 1988? I wouldnt get too excited about it. So far the "deadline" has been pushed back about 17 years from the original date so who knows when it will happen. And maybe by then somebody will have come up with something that can be retailed for a dollar, like the calculators that I recently bought at WalMart. It has photocells that recharge its battery. Had to get another one because the numbers wore off the keys. And the RFID chips that cost about a quarter. I marveled at the calculator technology. When I was in college we used hand-cranked Frieden calculators that cost several thousand 1950 dollars.
