I have raised this issue with reps from several manufacturers and they all
say the same.  It does not hurt the lamp at all to interrupt the cool down
cycle.  It just delays the time to restart because the lamp cannot be
started while hot.  Unless one has frequent power outages, a UPS is not a
significant benefit.  The only advantage is that it reduces the number of
start cycles if it keeps the set running until the power comes back up.
