Fred, normally on that chassis, the eeprom doesn't cause much of an issue
but, when overdriven with the 5volts, it can corrupt customer settings in
the menu. If it's not holding the convergence 'customer settings' only, then
replace the eeprom but you also need to track down the 5.6volt zener off the
5volt reg. that's causing the fail. Don't have the location number but, if
no one else points it out, I'll dig it up in a few.
