Not just Panasonic, include JVC, Sony and some other brands.
What can you expect, when your paying $80 for a 4 head, hi-fi machine. Some
are lucky to get past the initial warranty period.
As far as buying test equipment strictly for VCR repair, just send that
money my way, would be better spent.
Nowadays, more then cleaning, unless you have a scrapper, that doesn't have
the same problem, (and most of them do), much trouble shooting, and then
trying to secure the replacement part, is ill advised.
And forget about ordering a replacement Remote Control for this stuff, over
1/2 the price of the original unit.
Our landfills will be filled with this stuff, for centuries to come.
