You still have to keep the same records for the tax crap so that you can
report your income minus your expenses  for Federal, State, Local, etc.
income taxing authorities. If you dont keep the records and they decide to
audit you, they impute your income and make you pay taxes, penalties, and
interest  on the amount that they decide you probably had.
If you never show a profit, they declare that it was a hobby, not a
business, and that therefore you cannot deduct the expenses from the income
for tax purposes. Its been so long since we have seen a profit I am
beginning to think it is a hobby.
