Hi, I do very little with CD Players so I'm not all that familiar. Usually if cleaning the lens doesn't take care of the problem, I give them back. I can't do that this time. It belongs to my daughter. Of course, my daughter thinks I know all there is to know about electronics (ha, ha). The problem is it will spin and attempt to read the disc. You can see the lens move back and forth and sometimes it will play then jump to track 2 or 3 or 6 or what ever then back to 1. Or it might not play at all. I cleaned the lens, cleaned and lubed the sled, tried applying voltage to the motors and also while doing that, reverse the polarity to the motors (this done of coarse with the motors disconnected from the board). I took resistance readings on the 4 pots then I tried to rock them to see if this made any difference but no help so set them back to where they were. I also tried freeze to see if it nay be heat related. Also esr'd the caps and checked for bad joints. My daughter claims it was working fine and then it just started doing this. Can the pick-up go bad without a warning? or is there a better solution? Any help sure would be appreciated.
