Phil, You may want to check this, from Tech Repair CD: Magnavox\TS2746C221\In a small number of F8 chassis equipped models the following symptom may occur. At turn on/warm up* there is a bright screen with retrace lines.\Within seconds the set goes to shutdown. Error 2 is flashed by the power LED if the chassis is started in SDM by power up with the Service Jumper in place.\\27F8\Replace resistor 3340 on the CRT panel only with 4835 116 57097 (10 ohm* 1/2 watt).\\\\\\\\ Could also have a bad yoke..are you sure the shhhhhhhhhh is coming from the speakers and not the yoke? "Shhh" in audio, shuts down Sorry for long subject line, but that's it. Customer complaint was "shuts off after it warms up". Went over the underside, found no bad solder, rapped and tapped while on, no change. It has a full picture with a horizontal jagged "piecrusting" around all images, along with a "Shhhhh" noise in with the audio, like an audio IF misalignment. I think I see a very slight overall intermittant size and brightness fluctuation, and after ten minutes or so it just shuts off. Cannot turn back on unless cord unplugged for a moment. I changed the known issue, scan cap #2463 (680pF@ 2KV) with no help. I freeze sprayed around but nothing definate. Vert IC has good solder (this isn't vertical symptom anyway) Need input here guys!
