Swapped and unswapped! This model does something for the 24 hr record that I have never seen in another model. The record RF is gated so that only every third field is recorded with an EP head. That means that only 10 pictures per second are recorded. In playback 30 pictures per second are needed for the NTSC monitor, so it is supposed to play the same picture 3 times. But it is only playing back 10 pictures per second with a gap between each picture. According to the service manual, the 4 EP heads are supposed to be switched according to a "preset algorithm" to play back the same picture 3 times so that there is no gap in the RF envelope. It just is not doing it. If I play back the 24 hour recording in the 8 hour speed it plays OK, but it is supposed to play the 24 hour recording in the 24 hour speed too.
