Simple thermodynamics.....a hotter body transfers its heat to a cooler body,
because a cooler body can absorb "heat energy".
If the transistor is cooler than the heatsink, then heat would transfer into
it, and we all know we don't want that happening...also if the transistor is
the only heat source on that heatsink, the source will always be higher
temp or the same temp as the 'sink, and you don't want the 'sink at the same
temp as the source, something about thermal lock (causes steam locomotives
to stop running).
