My bet would be " other problem ", not the yoke. The set is probably shutting down when turned on due to excessive high voltage which would be caused by excessive regulated B+. Disconnecting the yoke allows it to turn on and stay on because the high voltage is reduced and the x-ray protect circuit no longer detects excessive high voltage. Troubleshoot the regulator circuit. The regulator circuit should work normally with the yoke disconnected but you may also want to pull the CRT socket board so you don't burn the CRT. Jim Myers Since 1972 Telrad Electronic Services Co.
