Kevin, Your regulated voltage should not vary. No matter what the load, something should blow. Pay special attention to the regulator circuit. And make sure the Raw DC is clean. You could have a bad filter cap. Scope it out. Just a guess. I spent time on this dog lost night. This is what I found: B+ varies between 108 and 120 volts. HV measured 24 kV the one time I checked it. The higher the voltage the wider the picture, of course. I replaced SCR4101 (780-9) in the P/S with 780-7 and no difference. I replaced the HOT with a large 100 ohm resistor and the B+ was a stable 140 volts. I removed the HOT from circuit and it tested good with high meg on my ohm meter. Something is dragging the B+ down and the only thing I can think of is the flyback, which doesn=92t make sense to me. Am I missing something? =20 Kevin Wilks Kevin's TV & Video Repair Penticton BC Canada kevintv@xxxxxxx=20 =20 -----Original Message----- From: techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Phil Bader Sent: Thursday, December 02, 2004 6:55 AM To: techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [TechAssist] Re: CTC167 chassis, small, dark, blurry picture. Here's all my CTC166/167 series file cards. Tho some are not same=20 symptom, they are common failures and may relate to it indirectly: Intermittant vert: SMD R4509 between error amp and U14501 pin 6. crack=20 in board trace. Intermit. blacks out,has sound: front of vert output IC, replace C164=20 (100mf@25v) and traces eaten underneath it. Another known bad cap is=20 C4502 (220mf@35v) Excess bright, retrace: Q2901 leaking.Luma buffer, use NTE159. Many size issues also relate to bad LA7831 vert IC. Hope these help. Also known for tiny traces being eaten thru by cap=20 fluid.Especially at front under vert area. Phil Bader Kevin wrote: >It sounds like a B+ problem, but I am not familiar with the CTC67 >chassis.
