I am aware that some authorities have in the past mounted signal heads on lighting columns - we have managed to avoid this to-date but are now being asked to re-consider it for reasons of 'street clutter reduction'. We can think of all sorts of 'negative' reasons why we don't like the idea (compromise on pole positioning, mains isolation, weakening of columns by drilling etc.). Can I ask if anyone routinely does this nowadays, and what they see as the real problems/solutions?
